Overview:

Enjoy long-playing CD entertainment in your vehicle with Panasonic's CX-DP880 8-disc CD changer. This compact unit mounts at 5 different angles, and its laser pickup and disc loading mechanism are isolated in a floating suspension to virtually eliminate skipping.

Features:

• Compatibility: The CX-DP880U can play CDs, as well as finalized CD-R and CD-RW discs. It will not play MP3- or WMA-encoded CD-Rs or CD-RWs, nor will it pass along CD Text information to a connected head unit for display.
  
• Mounting Angles: This changer may be mounted at a 0 (Horizontal), 22.5 (A), 45 (B), 67.5 (C), or 90 (Vertical) degree angle (a 10 degree maximum deviation above or below the listed values is acceptable, so practical mounting limits are -10 to +10 degrees, 12.5 to 32.5 degrees, 35 to 55 degrees, 57.5 to 77.5 degrees, or 80 to 90 degrees. The changer should not be mounted beyond 90 degrees). The angle-adjusting screws, located on each side of the changer, should be set to agree to the mounting angle of the changer (H, A, B, C, or V).
  
• Anti-Shock Floating Mechanism: The critical laser pickup and disc loading mechanism is isolated in a floating suspension. Two suspension coils and four rubber-plus-silicone dampers help absorb external vibrations.
  
• Learning Skip: Instead of trying to access a non-existent disc, the CD changer "learns" which slots are empty, so it remembers to skip ahead, accessing only the CDs that are actually loaded.
  
• Digital Servo Optical Control: An advanced digital servo is used for optical servo control, featuring an automatic servo adjustment algorithm. This technology ensures optimum playback of each CD, regardless of the discs unique characteristics.
  
• 3-Beam Hologram Pickup: This unit has an integrated 3-beam hologram pickup that combines the laser diode, photodiode, diffraction grating, and other small opto-electronic parts into a single assembly. This results in a small pickup with excellent trackability, and high performance reliability despite temperature changes and the passage of time.
  
• Multi-Stage Noise Shaping: This feature helps prevent zero-cross distortion and non-linear distortion during CD playback. Digital noise (distortion) is moved out of the audible range.
  
• 1-bit D/A conversion: Digital to analog conversion is accomplished with a 1-bit digital-to-analog converter.

Note: The included cable has the new plug on the changer end, but the plug on the changer controller end has not changed. There were no changes to the changer protocol, therefore the CX-DP880 is compatible with previous years Panasonic changer controller receivers. If you are replacing an older Panasonic changer with the DP880, and want to continue to use the older changer cable, you can purchase an accessory part directly from Panasonic (YESSCRD003) to adapt the old changer connector to the DP880.
