LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT Lens with 3x Optical Zoom and F2.8 Brightness On top of the 3x optical zoom, the FX12 and FX10 offer Extended Optical Zoom. This feature uses the center of the CCD to boost zoom power to as high as 4.5x (FX12) or 4.1x (FX10) in 3-megapixel resolution mode.

The pixel-mixed readout method performed by the CCD increases the brightness level of the live image on the LCD, which greatly facilitates shooting in low lighting. If it's difficult to see the display on a sunny day, simply press the Power LCD button and the display becomes about 40% brighter.
